January Faves 2015

Hello Dolls!!

I can't believe this month is almost over. Hope everyone has had an awesome start to 2015, if not, another month is beginning and it'll be all good!!

Here are a few things I've been loving for the month of January 2015.

My favorite pieces of jewelry are these two statement necklaces. The blue & turquoise is from Banana Republic and the pink & coral is by Lauren Conrad for Khols.

My favorite scent at the moment is Minajesty by Niki Minaj. It's not an overwhelming scent. Is subtle enough to wear daily.

My favorite makeup at the moment is a few pieces. This is always the longest part, ;-). I like to prep my face with Olay facial oil. It's safe to use daily. I purchased mine at Ulta.
My current everyday foundation is by Benefit Cosmetics, Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow, in "I'm all the Rage, beige".  Very pretty and not cakey, at least not for me. I set my makeup with Urban Decay Chill makeup setting spray. It gives me a nice glow. It's perfect to throw in your bag. The palette I'm using almost daily is the LORAC Unzipped palette. It's so stinking beautiful. The colors are bold yet neutral, if that makes sense. I find that  reaching for this one almost daily. I highly recommend it. For lipstick, I currently using Maybelline matte 665 Lust Fpr Blush. A very pretty pink. It's a bit dark on me. I thought it would be too bright for me but it wasn't. Which I'm glad about. For my eyebrows, I finally caved and bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in Dark Brown. This one is tricky. It was difficult (for me) to get a handle on this. VERY little product goes a long way. I had sharpie brows with this. Thankfully I didn't risk giving a patient a  heart attack and practiced at home before walking out of my house.

Random Faves:

My current favorite snack are these awesome Veggie Straws from Target. My handsome bought me a humongous bag from Costco. Delish and healthy. So I don't feel guilty about eating chips. If you've ever had the chips, Munchos, these are kinda like that.

My current favorite apps are: Makeupsocial, Afterlight, Moldiv & Audible.

Makeupsocial is basically Instagram for makeup lovers like you & me. Trust me, download it and thank me later. But don't blame me when you run out of juice on your cellie 'cause you always on it, like me!!

Songs I'm currently loving is from the Fox show Empire!!! Which I guess qualifies as my current favorite show. Are you currently obsessed with that show like I am! Eek! So if you watch it and seen the first episode, the opening scene when V. Boseman song her heart out, ugh that was amazing, What is Love. Omg Jamal has the voice of an Angel. I had to download his song Good Enough. Oowee, that song reached my soul!!! Then we got the man himself, Mr. Michael Jackson. From his most recent album, how they are putting his stuff out is beyond me, is his song Chicago! I'm mean, MJ, need I say more!?

Im sure you know about audible. But I'm case you don't I'll let you know. Audible is an app where you can download books and listen to them. I have always preferred a book in my hand, but I gotta say, I'm a believer and I'm loving it. Yes, I've converted, I've given in and listen to my books. Usually the only "me time" I have is in my car while I drive to & from work. If I'm not listening to music I'm listening to my books. Currently I'm listening to Hollow City, it's the second part to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Loving it. Are you currently loving any books that you're listening to or reading?

That's all for now guys!

What are your current must haves or things you've been loving?

My foundation routine

Hello Dolls!!

I wanted to show you all how I do my foundation. Today I'm using my Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in I'm All The Rage~Biege.

I'm really loving this foundation. It isn't  full coverage but it is buildable.

This is me, almost barefaced but I did my eyebrows and have moisturizer on.

Foundation can completely change the way you look and feel. I begin by damping my sponge with water. I use the pointed end to apply my foundation all around my face. I use the flat end to apply my concealer. Make sure to drag the foundation towards your neck. If you feel you need more coverage, then apply more. Be careful not to cake it on. You'll know you have done this if the your face and neck are do different colors. I like to relay on natural light to see how good my foundation is. I literally step outside and look in the mirror, (that I took outside with me) to see how well my foundation looks.

When buying foundation we all know the hardest part is getting the right shade. If it's the wrong one, don't get discouraged and return it. It's all about trial and error. Have fun with it. Makeup is all about having fun and learning about what you like and what makes you feel glamorous and confident.

I like to use the real technique beauty sponge. I love using a sponge to apply my liquid foundations. What do you use to apply your foundation?

I'm going to go finish my makeup, be right back...

Ok, I'm back...

I finished the rest of my face...

Hope I have taught you something new and helpful.

I'll be uploading a video soon...

How to clean your beauty sponge using jabón ZOTE

Hello Dolls,

My blog got a bit of a makeup over. Hope you likey.

To honor this mini make over, I decided to show you how I cleaned my beauty sponge. I have had a beauty blender, but it got so nasty, which of course I would clean, I had to buy another. So I went to Walgreens and bought this pretty neat beauty sponge. It gets the job done. But of course it was getting nasty, even though I would wash it with just about everything under the sun.

I was browsing Makeupsocial (an Instagram for makeup lovers) and found the amazing @jocelynnng_ and she posted a pic of jabón ZOTE, a Mexican soap used for laundry, she used it to clean her sponge. I was so intrigued, I went to pick some up.

I bought mine at Cermak Produce, for less than $2. You can find it in any supermercado or Latino store (or section) in the laundry aisle.

And yes that sponge is nasty, I know, but I wanted it dirty so you can really see if a difference, and let me tell you, omg!

To begin, open the wrapper to remove the soap, just in case you thought it could be done with it on, haha, aren't those type of instructions always so funny, get the soap a little wet with warm water, I prefer warm water, rub the sponge along the soap and get it lathered.

Rub it around, get it lathered, you will begin to see the makeup comes off...eww.

Rub, rub, rub.
Rinse, rinse, rinse until the water runs clear.

You're all done. You now have a beautifully clean beauty sponge. That smells really pretty, jiji.

Keeping your brushes and sponges clean is vital to persevere them and to keep your skin healthy. If you use a dirty sponge or brush, you risk breakouts and your makeup looking cakey because of the dirty tool.

Hope you found this helpful.

If you have any tips for me, please share them.

Kat Von D-Everlasting Liquid lipstick (Review)

Hello, Dolls!

I have seen so many reviews on the Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipsticks. The very infamous Lolita to be precise. So naturely I was very curious about them.

I searched for weeks for the Lolita, it was sold out everywhere, even online.

I finally got my hands on it.
I purchased the Lolita and Bauhau5.

My favorite, to my surprise, was actually the bauhau5.

The product comes in a tube, with 0.22 oz. of product, with a sponge applicator. The cost is $19, each.

What it is:
A long-wear, full-coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth matte finish.

What it does:
This innovative Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is infused with vitamins A, C, and E for added hydration. The next-generation formula gives lips long-lasting wear and high-pigment color with a smooth matte finish.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens

I did a swatch of the lipsticks on my hand.

With these swatches, keep in mind that I am of medium complexion. The colors could look different on you.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the lipsticks. I did feel my lips dry up a bit, but not asuch as I was expecting. The color did last a long time. Even with drinking something, eating and just going about my day.  I think I will purchase a few more.

If you like a matte lippies, you will love this. If you're not crazy about matte lippies, you should avoid this product.

Have you tried the Kat Von D, Everlasting Liquid Lipstck? If so, what did you think of it? Which shade did you pick up?

Office Supply Haul (Target)

Hello Dolls!

Today I went to target and made a huge, at least to me it was huge, Teehee, purchase. I bought a few office supplies and supplies for my Erin Condren planner. I'm extremely excited to decorate my planner for January.

I just changed the cover of my planner.

This is an over view of what I purchased.

I finally purchased a laminator. Call me nerdy but I have been looking to purchase a laminator forever. It's all thanks to Belinda Selene. She is so axing at decorating her planner and has a video on how she decorates her planner. I will link her video below.

I bought the scotch laminator. Which was surprisingly affordable, only $20.00. I got laminator sheets and scrapbook paper.

I got a little carried away with stickers, since they were only a dollar. I also got double sided tape, post its and Valentine's Day stickers and paper clips. I also got some Washi Tapes.

I purchased the mechanical pencils and pens from the one spot. Along with these nice black pencils with stones instead of erasers, how cute! Finally, I got fine pointed sharpies.

I also have had my eyes on a glue gun! Only $4.99 with 10 glue sticks. I also purchased a pack of glue refills for my glue gun.

I'm so freaken excited to start prettying up my planner.

If you interested in purchased the Erin Condren planner, use my link to get 10% off your first one.

Do you decorate your planners?
If so, I'd love to see your planners and supplies. If you use Instagram use the hastag #missgeeklychicweekly #planningwithmissgeeklychic so I can like and comment on your picture(s).

Happy Planning.
